A nice shiny new blog that was started in January 2010 to share my experience of becoming an airline pilot.
I have wanted to become a pilot for many years now and throughout those years I have looked all over the place for information on how to do it. I have found some great resources; anything from flight school websites to forums and to blogs. I also spoke to or emailed any pilot who’s details I could get my hands on. I have never seen a blog that details everything from the beginning and so I thought I would make it possible for people to find what I was looking for. I want people to know that anyone with enough determination and effort can achieve their dream of flying for the airlines. This blog will cover my flight training and eventually my entry into work with an airline and everything inbetween.
I have decided to train with Oxford Aviation Academy and will commence on 26th April 2010. I will be in AP313. For full details of the course structure, click here.

Graeme, thanks for stopping by. I’ll be sure to read your blog and follow your progress. I have just read your post ‘Runway Incursion’ and it was an enjoyable read. I always found it so frustrating when I had a lesson that I felt didn’t go very well. It would be great to just forget about it and start again. We both know the best thing to do it take what you’ve learned from it and move on, doing your best the next time around. I had a test shortly after my first solo where I went up with another instructor who was checking my landings and pattern work. I had never flown so poorly before that point and I haven’t flown so poorly since! Ever so frustrating but my flying was still safe enough to pass.
I have been on the Web for weeks looking for a blog like this and now I have found it.. Thanks Matt. I have just sent away for the initial info pack from Oxford AA. I really am hopeful that I can meet the initial demands to ensure acceptance. And then I guess the real hard work starts!! I’m away now to read this blog.. Thanks again
